COUPPLY protects your data with end-to-end encryption. Not even the COUPPLY team can read its contents or see your photos.
About privacy
- COUPPLY saves everything, including your conversations, album photos, and places, with special encryption that only your two devices can read. Data saved on our servers (the cloud) is encrypted too, so neither the COUPPLY team nor anyone else can peek at its contents.
- The encryption key is created from your PIN code. That's exactly why you must never forget your PIN code. If you forget it, no one (not even the COUPPLY team) can recover what you've written in the past.
- You don't need to do anything special. Everything is encrypted and saved automatically as soon as you write it.
About using AI
- When you use features where AI writes replies or text, such as the counselor, "Share your feelings," or court, the data is decrypted on your device and then passed to the AI. The AI has to read the content to reply, so this can't be avoided with AI features. However, it isn't used to train the AI. What you pass to it is never used as material (training data) to make the AI smarter. This is guaranteed by our contract with the AI provider.
- We don't keep anything in a form the COUPPLY team can read. The conversations passed to the AI aren't recorded in a form we can look at later. The AI's replies are encrypted again before they're saved.
FAQ
Q. Can the COUPPLY team read our messages or consultations?
No. Everything saved is protected by encryption, and the COUPPLY team doesn't have the key. Not even the COUPPLY team can read the contents of threads, memos, conversations with the counselor, Just-in-Case Notes, and so on.
Q. Could other couples (other users) read them?
No. Your data is protected by a key shared only by the two of you, so even if another couple accessed your data, all they'd see is encrypted text.
Q. Are photos and videos encrypted too?
Yes. Photos, videos, and files you upload to Memories or the Wiki are also encrypted before they're saved on our servers. No one can see their contents without your shared key.
Q. Is what I pass to the AI used to train it?
No. Your content never becomes AI training data.
Q. What happens to my data if I forget my PIN code?
The key that decrypts your data is created from your PIN, so if you forget your PIN, you won't be able to read your past data.
Q. What happens to the key when I change phones?
If you carry over your PIN code and login details, the key is rebuilt on your new device and you can keep reading your past data.
